Railway Conveyances.

MIDLAND RAILWAY STATION, foot of

Wicker. Trains to Rotherham, at 8½, 9½,

10½ am.; and at 12½, 3, 4½. 6½, and 8 pm.,

with an additional train on Monday at 7 a.m.;

but on Sunday only at 9 a.m., and 1½ and 8

p.m. To Derby, Leeds, Chesterfield, London

and all parts eight or nine times a day. To

Doncester and Barnsley, via the South

Yorkshire Railway, five or six times a day,

and three times a day to Barnsley, via

Grange Lane, Ecclesfield; Chapeltown, &c.

Mr. Wm. Cobby is the superintendent.

VICTORIA STATION, near the Cattle market,

(Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire

Railway) which is crossed by the Great

Northern Railway at Retford, and trains

belonging to both lines leave here from seven

to eight times a day, with passengers for all

parts. N.B. Omnibuses and Cabs meet

every train to and from both the passenger

stations. Trains direct to Eckington Sta-

tion leave seven times a day. Mr. John

Warde is the superintendent.

The BRIDGEHOUSE STATION at the end of

Nursery street and the Iron Bridge, is now

only the GOODS STATION for the Manchester,

Sheffield, and Lincolnshire and Great

Northern Railways. Mr. Luke Binney is

the goods manager. Here, as well as at the

Midland Station, are large Depôts for Coal,

Lime, Iron, &c.

Hackney Coaches.

There are stands for Hackney Coaches in all

the principal thoroughfares of the town,

and they may be hired at any time of the

day, for any part of the town or suburbs,

at the rate of ls. per mile. Return fares

are charged one half of the original fares.

Double fares are charged before seven

o clock in the morning from Michaelmas

day to Lady day; before six in the morn

ing from Lady day to Michaelmas day;

and after twelve at night. No charge

made for luggage unless it exceeds 112lbs.

and then 6d. extra is charged.

Omnibuses.

Eight to eleven times a day from the Mid

land Station to Glossop road and the

Botanical Gardens; and from the Nor-

folk Market Hall to Broomhill, Ranmoor,

Attercliffe, Heeley, Owlerton, Hillsbro’,

and Cherrytree hill. Also, a Bus to

Wadsley Bridge, five times on Tuesdays

and Saturdays.
